Hello,

I installed a HP 301 tri-colour cartridge for my HP Envy 5530, the black ink cartridge had some left.  The align printer page printed but the colour parts were faded.  Tried this again and it made printing noises but came out blank.

I have ran the clean print head tool at least 5 times now.

Taken out the tri-colour cartridge and ran as single cartridge using the black ink and its still blank.

Rebooted printer

Ran HP print and scan Dr 5.7.4, and its saying used refilled or counterfeit cartridge.

The black ink cartridge has been used, the tri colour one did a bad print then stopped working completely, so I'm not sure why the help tool is saying them being used is the problem.  I went through it all again and it now just says the tri colour is empty and the black ink has a bit of ink, ran clean printheads and align print heads through the print scan Dr and its still not printing anything.

If I take the tri color back to the shop tomorrow to replace it, what happens with the black ink that was previously working still isn't working as u can't even get it to work as a single cartridge now.  I considered swapping the tri colour and buying a new black ink one as that's around 10% Full atm, but what if I replace both and its an actual printer problem? Thanks for any help

Excellent description and a great diagnosis. It is greatly appreciated.

If you have performed all the steps from this document and still having issues, either the cartridges are faulty or the printer needs to be checked.
