I've just installed a new HP Tri-Color ink cartridge but no Cyan ink is printing. All other ink is good.

HI @SofTrain,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

When you're experiencing issues with a printer not printing a particular color, like cyan in your case, it can be frustrating. Here's a step-by-step troubleshooting guide to help you resolve the problem:

  • Check Ink Levels: Ensure that the cyan ink cartridge is properly installed and has ink. Sometimes, new cartridges might have protective tape or plastic covers that need to be removed before they can dispense ink.
  • Printer Maintenance: Run a printer maintenance cycle, which is usually accessible through the printer's settings menu. This can help clear any clogs or air bubbles in the ink lines that might be preventing cyan ink from flowing properly.
  • Clean Print Head: Many printers have a built-in function to clean the print head. This can be done through the printer's settings menu or software that came with your printer. Running a print head cleaning cycle might unclog any dried ink or debris that's blocking the cyan nozzles.
  • Manual Cleaning: If the automatic print head cleaning doesn't resolve the issue, you might need to manually clean the print head. Refer to your printer's user manual for instructions on how to do this properly. Typically, it involves gently wiping the print head with a lint-free cloth or using special cleaning solutions provided by the printer manufacturer.
  • Check Printer Settings: Ensure that the printer settings are configured correctly. Sometimes, printing in grayscale or draft mode can cause certain colors not to print. Make sure your printer is set to print in color and at the highest quality settings.
  • Test with Another Document: Try printing a different document or image that contains cyan color. This can help determine whether the issue is specific to one document or if it's a broader problem with the printer.
  • Update Printer Drivers: Make sure your printer drivers are up to date. Sometimes, outdated drivers can cause printing issues. You can usually download the latest drivers from the hp website.
  • Replace Cartridge: If none of the above steps resolve the issue, it's possible that the cyan ink cartridge is defective. Try replacing it with a new one to see if that solves the problem.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
