Deskjet 1000 Printer J110a
Microsoft Windows 11

Printer just runs paper through with no ink. I changed the black catridge for an unused one and unclogged the colored one.

After trying multiple times, resetting, rebooting i tried unclogging the unused (and the used) black ink catridge as shown in this video by the "printer insider": https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N6MN1uSyQS4

No ink came out though... and still no ink on the paper no matter if i choose colored or black and white

Please help

Hi @CyberWitcer,

I understand your HP Deskjet 1000 (J110a) is feeding paper correctly but printing completely blank pages, even after replacing and cleaning the cartridges. Let’s go through a few steps to check what could be causing this.

Print a printer self-test page
Disconnect the USB cable from the printer.
Hold the Power button and press Cancel twice, then release Power.
If the self-test page is blank, the issue is with the printer or cartridges, not Windows or software.

Check that the protective tape was fully removed
Remove both cartridges and confirm there is no plastic tape covering the ink nozzles or vents.
Even a small piece of tape will block ink flow completely.

Inspect cartridge electrical contacts
Remove the cartridges and gently clean the copper contacts on the cartridges and inside the printer using a lint-free cloth slightly dampened with distilled water.
Poor contact can prevent the printer from firing ink.

Verify ink venting
Check the small air vent on top of each cartridge and make sure it is not blocked by residue or tape.
Blocked vents stop ink from flowing to the nozzles.

Run the printer’s internal cleaning cycle
From Windows printer settings, run the Clean Printhead or Clean Cartridges option 2–3 times.
Wait a few minutes between cycles to allow ink to move through the nozzles.

Try printing with only one cartridge installed
Remove the color cartridge and try printing using black only.
Then swap and test with color only.
This helps determine whether one cartridge is preventing printing.

Check ink levels (visual check)
For this model, ink level reporting is limited.
Gently blot the cartridge nozzle on a damp paper towel—there should be visible ink marks.
If no ink appears, the cartridge is not delivering ink.

Perform a hard reset
With the printer on, unplug the power cord from the rear of the printer.
Unplug it from the wall, wait 60 seconds, then reconnect and power on.

Consider cartridge age and printer limitations
If both cartridges produce no ink at all, even when blotted, they are likely internally dried or failed, even if unused.
The Deskjet 1000 is an older model, and prolonged non-use often leads to permanent nozzle failure.

I hope this helps.
