HP OfficeJet Pro 8138e All-in-One Printer

I am unable to complete the setup process on my 8138e printer purchased at Costco. Please advise of how to bypass the setup process using new cartridges as the system will not recognize these.

Hi @Sylvanna, Welcome to HP Support Community. 

 

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you. 

The HP OfficeJet Pro 8138e requires setup cartridges for the initial setup.
Please follow these steps: 

1. Check for Setup Cartridges

  • If you still have the original setup cartridges that came with the printer, install them first.

2. Perform a Semi-Full Reset

Try resetting the printer to clear any errors:

  1. Turn off the printer and unplug it from power for 1-2 minutes.
  2. Reconnect and turn it back on.
  3. Check if the setup process continues.

3. Check Printer Firmware & Connectivity

  • If you can access the printer’s settings, update the firmware via Setup > Printer Maintenance > Update Printer.
  • Ensure the printer is connected to Wi-Fi or Ethernet
