I've been using non-HP ink cartridges for years just fine in my printer. Today when I went to replace the magenta, my printer threw up an error message that a non-HP chip was detected and my printer is, therefore, rendered useless. I've researched this for far too long today and can't find a solution. There was a class action on this exact issue and HP settled the case - so why/how is HP able to continue with this firmware? Was anyone able to come up with a work around on this issue? I went into embedded web server for my printer and confirmed that "cartridge protection" is off but my printer still won't work.
Has anyone had luck with a factory reset? I didn't read anything where someone had success with this.
Thank you.

It seems to be a recent problem. I too have been using aftermarket ink since not being able to get HP ink 2 years ago when supply lines went down.
My printer is out of warranty and HP is of no help. I wise I had to original disk.
