My husband and I are trying to print a picture out. When we try to print it takes for ever like 20 min, even if we change the size. Sometimes it will only print half and then kick it out like it should be finished. We have printed test pages, alignment pages and they all print fairly quickly and fine. We even tried printing a word document and it would only print part of the header and then kick out. We had it connected wirelessly but then connected the computer directly to the printer. I do not understand why it will print certain things but others it will not. Everything seems to be working fine for test pages and alignments.

Hi @teresamarie88,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP ENVY 4502 e-All-in-One printer is not printing consistently, there could be several possible causes for the issue. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try to resolve the problem.
- Check ink levels: Make sure your printer has sufficient ink or toner. If the levels are low, replace the cartridges or refill them if possible.
- Print head alignment: Perform a print head alignment to ensure the print heads are properly aligned. This can help improve print quality. Consult your printer's manual or the HP website for instructions on how to do this.
- Clean the print heads: If the print heads are clogged, it can result in inconsistent printing. Most printers have a built-in utility for cleaning the print heads. Use this utility to clean the print heads and improve print quality.
- Check paper quality: Ensure that you are using the correct type and size of paper for your printer. Using low-quality or incompatible paper can lead to printing issues. Also, make sure the paper is loaded correctly in the printer's input tray.
- Restart your printer: Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve temporary glitches. Turn off your printer, unplug it from the power source, wait for a few minutes, and then plug it back in and turn it on.
- Update printer drivers: Outdated or incompatible printer drivers can cause printing problems. Visit the HP website and download the latest drivers for your printer model. Install the updated drivers and see if it improves the printing consistency.
- Check for firmware updates: Manufacturers often release firmware updates to address known issues and improve printer performance. Check the HP support website for any available firmware updates for your printer model. Follow the instructions provided to update the firmware.
- Check for software conflicts: Sometimes, other software or applications running on your computer can interfere with the printing process. Temporarily disable any antivirus or firewall software and see if the issue persists.
- Test with a different document: Try printing a different document or file to see if the problem is specific to a particular document or file type. If other documents print consistently, the issue may be with the original document.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
