I do not understand how HP can control my printer and not allow me to print AT ALL if I don't have an HP cartridge.  I am so furious that the HP printer is going to go in the trash.  Do others have this issue?

Hi @VickiA1,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It seems like you're experiencing an issue with your printer cartridges. We always recommend using genuine HP ink cartridges.

I see that you have an issue using non-HP ink cartridges on your printer.

Please refer to the below links for more information related to your issue.

If you are using generic or Non HP ink cartridges and the above links do not help. You will have to contact the generic ink cartridge manufacturer to assist you further with it or you will have to use genuine HP ink cartridges to resume printing.

Thank you, Rachel.  I got very frustrated with the subscription for ink during the pandemic.  I had to work from home, and do a lot of printing.  I ran out of ink and tried to replace with the type I could find available at the time, and HP took over my printer.  That's what stuck in my craw, and continues to stick in my craw.  I complied with the requirement and cancelled my subscription, and then ran out of ink again at a critical time.  I did not have time to wait for a refill, so used an off brand that I had already on hand.  That's when HP again took over my printer, and I couldn't print at all.

I have ordered a printer of a different brand as a result.

Thank you so much for your thoughtful response, but I will be taking my business elsewhere.
