I have an HP Office Jet Pro 9010 series. It has worked great for the last year. All of the sudden it has stopped printing in color from my computer. My husband can print in color. I can copy in color. There is plenty of colored ink. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling HP Smart. I have double checked the print settings, which are set to color. But the printer will only print in black and white. Any suggestions for other troubleshooting?

Hi @BN39,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your printer!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
Try these steps:
Verify Print Settings:
- Double-check that your print settings are set to color in the print dialogue box of your chosen software application. Sometimes, changes are made within the application that override your default printer settings.
Check Printer Preferences:
- Go to Devices and Printers on your computer.
- Right-click on your HP OfficeJet Pro 9010 and select Printing Preferences.
- Ensure that the document printing preferences are set for color printing.
Update Printer Driver:
- Check if there is an updated driver available for your printer model on the HP website, especially for your specific operating system version.
Run HP Print and Scan Doctor:
- Download and run HP Print and Scan Doctor to automatically troubleshoot and fix print issues.
Test from Different Applications:
- Try printing a color document from different applications to see if the issue persists, as it might be application-specific.
Check User-Specific Settings:
- Sometimes user-specific settings might be overriding the printer's default settings. Verify if your login or user preferences differ from settings that your husband uses.
Windows Registry Check (if applicable):
- In some rare cases, registry settings can affect printer performance, but modifying the registry can be risky. Consider consulting a professional if this is suspected.
Reboot Devices:
- Turn off both your printer and computer, then turn them back on. Restarting can sometimes reset any temporary glitches hampering communication between devices.
Test Print:
- Run a printer self-test or diagnostic page directly from the printer to ensure that the color printing function works properly when initiated by the printer itself.
HP Smart App Settings:
- Make sure that the HP Smart app does not have any settings overriding color print settings.
I hope this helps.
