My printer was perfect until yesterday, when it printed colors on one half of the sheet of paper correctly, but the other half came out pink. I printed several different things, but they all came out the same no matter what I was printing. One side is correct, the other side is pink. The dates on my printheads don't expire until next year, and I've gone through every cleaning process that the printer does itself multiple times. I also removed printheads and manually cleaned them. Ink tanks are totally full with HP brand ink, and when I printed a "demo" page, colors came out perfect on the entire page. Why would that print perfectly, yet my documents are messed up? I've done everything I can think of to correct the problem, and of course, you can't speak to an HP rep for help without signing up on a monthly contract. Does anyone have any insight as to why it is doing this, and can it be fixed?

@Barb1116, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Diagnosing Color Issues with HP Smart Tank Plus 651 Wireless All-in-One!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

It appears that your HP Smart Tank Plus 651 Wireless All-in-One printer is experiencing an issue where one half of the printout is coming out with the correct colors while the other half is pink. This type of issue can typically be attributed to problems with the printhead alignment, ink levels, or possibly even a clogged nozzle. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can take to resolve the issue:

Check Ink Levels:

  • Ensure that all ink levels are sufficient and there is no empty cartridge.
  • You can check this directly on the printer’s display or via the HP Smart app.

Clean the Printheads:

  • Open the HP Smart app or printer software on your computer.
  • Locate and run the 'Printhead Cleaning' utility. You may need to run this several times to obtain optimal results.

Print a Quality Diagnostic Report:

  • This will help identify if any particular color or printhead is causing the issue.
  • Access the printer's settings menu, then find and print a diagnostic page.

Align the Printheads:

  • This can correct issues where the printhead alignment might be causing problems with the ink distribution.
  • Go to the printer's settings and look for the printhead alignment feature. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the alignment.

Check for Software Updates:

  • Ensure the printer firmware is up-to-date as there may be updates that can resolve print quality issues.
  • You can check for updates via the HP Smart app or the HP website.

Manual Cleaning:

  • If automatic cleaning does not resolve the issue, you may need to manually clean the printheads.
  • Carefully remove the printheads and clean them with a lint-free cloth and distilled water. Be gentle to avoid damage (refer to your printer manual for exact instructions).

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
