Hi @Johnson2011,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP Deskjet 3636 is not recognizing the new ink cartridges even though they are installed, there are a few steps you can try to resolve the issue:
Check Cartridge Installation: Ensure that the ink cartridges are correctly installed. Open the printer cover and make sure each cartridge is securely in place. Sometimes, a loose connection can cause the printer not to recognize the cartridges.
Clean Cartridge Contacts: Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source. Gently remove the ink cartridges and clean the metal contacts on the cartridges with a lint-free cloth. Also, clean the contacts inside the cartridge slots in the printer. Make sure there is no dust or debris.
Reset the Printer: Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source. Wait for a few minutes, then plug it back in and turn it on. This can sometimes help reset the printer's internal memory and resolve recognition issues.
Update Firmware/Drivers: Check if there are any firmware or driver updates available for your printer. Updating the firmware or drivers can sometimes address compatibility issues and improve the printer's performance.
Use Genuine HP Cartridges: Ensure that you are using genuine HP ink cartridges. Some printers may have difficulty recognizing or working with third-party or refilled cartridges.
Check for Error Messages: Look for any error messages on the printer's display or on your computer screen. These messages can provide more specific information about the issue and guide you in troubleshooting.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.-
