my HP Officejet Pro 6830 won't allow me to print. I am only trying to print in black ink and I don't need the other colors, I only have the black one installed. it keeps having an error message saying One or more cartridges appears to me damaged or missing. will my printer not work without having all the cartridges, even though I only need it for black? this is so frustrating and any help is much appreciated. God bless

also, I do not own the missing cartridges anymore..:(

Hi @dingerprinter,

Welcome to the HP Support Community

I understand you are getting an error message "One or more cartridges appears to be damaged or missing" on your HP Officejet Pro 6830 Printer. Not to worry I will help you to get a resolution to resolve the issue.

Note: Even if you are trying to print only using black ink, this printer needs all the other colors to be inside the printer to print.

It is how the 4-ink system printer is designed to work. So please replace the missing inks and you will be able to print fine.

You may refer to this document to set black and white as a default setting on your PC: HP inkjet printers - Print in black and white

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
