HP ENVY 6455e All-in-One Printer

I purchased an off brand ink cartridge for my HP Envy 6455e printer and I get a E0 error code. I am not in the InstaInk program any more as I prefer to purchase ink cartridges elsewhere. The numbers were shown as compatible for my printer model. How can I bypass this error code and use the off brand cartridges?

Hi @ASLMichele,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your printer!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

An E0 error code on your HP ENVY printer indicates an unusable cartridge. You can troubleshoot this issue by following these steps:

Steps to Resolve E0 Error

Reseat the Ink Cartridges:

  • Open the ink cartridge access door.
  • Remove both ink cartridges.
  • Reseat both ink cartridges securely back into their slots.

Clean Ink Cartridge Contacts:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug the power cord.
  • Use a lint-free cloth to clean the copper-colored contacts on the ink cartridges.
  • Also clean the contacts inside the printer where the cartridges are inserted.

Restart the Printer:

  • Plug the power cord back in and turn on the printer.
  • Check if the error persists.

Replace Ink Cartridges If Necessary:

  • If reseating and cleaning did not resolve the issue, consider replacing one or both ink cartridges with new ones.

For more detailed instructions, you can refer to the HP ENVY 6000, 6400 Printers - E0 Error.

Let me know how it goes.
