Product: HP OfficeJet Pro 6978 All-in-One Printer
A new automatic firmware update MCP2CN2247AR is causing my Office Depot black cartridge to be blocked. I have used Office Depot ink in this HP 6978 printer for years. The printer doesn’t seem to have a problem with the 3 color cartridges, just the black. Is there a workaround to allow use of non HP ink or is the firmware update going to force use of HP ink? There does not appear to be a firmware downgrade option ir possibility. I know this is a common problem, but it’s odd that it has appeared all of the sudden on this old printer. Thoughts? Buy the hp ink? Will resetting the printer to its factory defaults downgrade the firmware ?
