Office Jet 5255
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have an HP Printer, 5255 Office Jet.  I used the original ink and then another set of HP ink until it ran out.  When I put in the second set of new HP ink my black skips and does not print correctly.  I really do not want to buy another set of ink to see if the ink cartridge is the problem.  I have $65.00 in ink in this printer that is probably going to be trashed along with the ink.  Unless someone has a solution this will be the last HP product I ever buy.

Looking for an answer.

@MeToo17, Welcome to the HP Support Community! I’m here to help.

I understand the print quality with black is not satisfactory. Perform the steps mentioned in this document - Black or Color Ink Not Printing, Other Print Quality Issues

Remove the color ink cartridge and clean the black ink cartridge up to 2 times and print a test report to check the result.

Try making a standalone copy in black from the flatbed glass and check if that works. By this, we can conclude if this is a hardware or a driver issue.

If the issue persists, please reach out to the HP Technical Support team in your region regarding the service/replacement ink cartridge.

You may create a case on the website to obtain a case number if required. Kindly watch this video to know how.

Keep me posted for any other assistance.
