i installed a new black ink cartridge. Then I printed the ink report. The colored ink was reported correctly
but the black ink was reported empty. The printer will not print any black and white documents. They are printed blank. This is a new problem only a month old I bought the printer in 2011

I understand you're experiencing an issue with your HP Officejet 6500A Plus printer where it's not recognizing the new black ink cartridge and consequently not printing black and white documents.

- Check Cartridge Installation: Make sure that the black ink cartridge is properly installed. Sometimes cartridges may not be seated correctly, which can prevent the printer from recognizing them. Remove the cartridge and reinstall it carefully.
- Clean Cartridge Contacts: Ink residue or debris on the cartridge contacts can interfere with communication between the cartridge and the printer. Use a lint-free cloth lightly moistened with water to gently clean the contacts on both the cartridge and the printer.
- Reset Printer: Turn off the printer, disconnect the power cord, and wait for a few minutes. Then, reconnect the power cord and turn on the printer. This can sometimes reset the printer and resolve issues related to ink recognition.
- Update Printer Firmware: Ensure that your printer has the latest firmware installed. Sometimes firmware updates include fixes for issues related to ink cartridge recognition. You can usually find firmware updates on the HP website under the support section for your printer model.
- Replace Cartridge: If the issue persists after trying the above steps, the black ink cartridge itself may be faulty Try replacing the black ink cartridge with a new one.
