The product was introduced in 2016.
This is is a vastly popular model.
One of the reasons for its popularity might be that the printer supports Borderless printing, many paper types, many paper sizes / custom paper sizes, and 2-sided scan for Letter sized paper (single sided scan for 8.5X14")
Yes, according to the HP Store, the product has been discontinued.
Looks like someone (other than you) has purchased the printer within the last six months.
It sounds like the "discontinued" status is relatively recent.
The software will likely be supported for at least five years - yes, this is an opinion.
Windows can change enormously in that amount of time.
What is expected (or guessed) might be different from what happens in the future.
Ink cartridge availability will likely out last the printer hardware.
