I installed new 910 cartridges. The printer will only print in black. I've tried everything. New driver updates, cleaning heads, ran maintenance and diagnostics.
How do I fix this?

Hi @Nocolor8025,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP OfficeJet Pro 8025 printer is not printing colors correctly after you've installed a new 910 color cartridge, there are several steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve the issue.
Check Cartridge Installation:
- Ensure that the new 910 color cartridge is properly installed. Make sure it is securely seated in its respective slot.
Remove Protective Tape:
- Sometimes, new cartridges come with a protective tape or seal that needs to be removed before installation. Ensure that you've removed any tape or seal from the cartridge's contacts and nozzles.
Check for Ink Levels:
- Verify that the new color cartridge has sufficient ink levels. You can do this by checking the ink level indicator on your printer's control panel or by using the HP Smart app on your computer or mobile device.
Clean Printhead:
- If the printhead is clogged, it can affect color printing. Most HP printers have a printhead cleaning utility that you can access through the printer's menu. Run a printhead cleaning cycle to clear any clogs.
Align the Printhead:
- After cleaning the printhead, it's a good idea to align it. This ensures that the ink is applied correctly to the paper. You can typically find the printhead alignment option in your printer's settings menu.
Check Printer Settings:
- Ensure that your printer settings are configured to print in color. Sometimes, settings may inadvertently be set to grayscale or black-and-white printing.
Update or Reinstall Printer Drivers:
- Outdated or corrupted printer drivers can cause printing issues. Consider updating your printer drivers or reinstalling them to ensure they are working correctly.
Restart the Printer:
- Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve printer problems. Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, wait for a minute or two, and then plug it back in and turn it on.
Print a Test Page:
- Use your printer's built-in test page function to check if the color printing issue persists. If the test page prints correctly, the problem may be with the specific document or software you are using.
Check for Firmware Updates:
- Make sure your printer's firmware is up to date. Sometimes, HP release firmware updates that can resolve printing issues.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
