Hello,

 

I have a colleague who is reporting that her OfficeJet 3830 "seemed to be out of black ink when I first tried using it. I installed a new black cartridge and printed one item and it looked fine. Today is the 2nd time I've tried using the printer and the pages are coming out with missing black ink (as if it's low) and smudgy."

 

I checked the ink level, and the Black does look full.  She said she did perform 1st and 2nd level print head cleaning this morning, but both her "Print Quality Diagnostic" pages show the Black blocks show noticeable blur and smudging, especially on the left side.  Whereas, all the color blocks look clean and crisp.  I performed the "Clean Paper Smears" option; the page that was ran through was clean.  I ran another "Print Quality Diagnostic" page, but the smudging did not improve.  I can also see smudging on the alignment lines, as well as the last letters on some lines of text on the diagnostic pages.

 

What else can we do to improve the black print quality?
