HP OfficeJet Pro 6968 All-in-One Printer

OfficeJet Pro 69678 won't print black. I have tried cleaning the printhead numerous times, cleaning the smear, wiping the coils on the cartridge and inside the printer, updating the apps, and switching out black ink cartridge. Please help!

Hi @worleybird,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It seems like you've already tried several troubleshooting steps to fix the issue with your HP OfficeJet Pro 6968 not printing black. If the problem persists even after trying those steps, there are a few more things you can try.

  • Print a Print Quality Diagnostic Report: Most printers have a diagnostic feature that allows you to print a test page showing the health of the printhead and ink cartridges. Check your printer's user manual or HP's website for instructions on how to print a diagnostic report. This report can provide valuable information about the state of your printer and may help identify the problem.
  • Printhead Alignment: If the printhead is misaligned, it can cause printing issues. Check your printer's software or control panel for the option to perform a printhead alignment. This process will ensure that the printhead is correctly aligned with the paper and can improve print quality.
  • Check Ink Levels: Verify that the black ink cartridge you replaced is not empty. Sometimes, a new cartridge can be defective or improperly installed. Double-check that the ink levels are sufficient and that the cartridge is correctly seated in its slot.
  • Check for Firmware Updates: Occasionally, printer issues can be resolved by updating the printer's firmware. Visit the HP support website and check if there are any firmware updates available for your OfficeJet Pro 6968 model.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

I appreciate all of the information, although I tried all of your suggestions and still have the same issue. I installed every new suggested driver/update, also.
