Hi there,
I was asked to fix a printer I recommended some years ago to a buddy.
OfficeJet Pro 6970, does scan but not print anymore.
Showed "Printhead error 0xc19a0023" in the beginning.
I tried to reset the printer, now I get "There's a problem with the printhead 0x0"
Unfortunately, the printhead can't be (easily) taken out of the printer.
Is there any solution available?
The printer is about five to six years old, but has seen very few printjobs only.
What would be the rough costs, if I sent it in for repair (Germany)?
Any self-repair possible?

Hi @ThiloD,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
.
It sounds like you've encountered a common issue with HP printers, specifically the Officejet Pro 6970, which is the printhead error. This error can occur due to various reasons, including clogged printheads, improper ink cartridge installation, or firmware glitches. Here are some steps you can try to troubleshoot and resolve the issue.
- Reset the Printer: Since you've already performed a reset, try performing a more extensive reset. Unplug the power cord from the printer and wait for about a minute. Then, plug it back in and turn on the printer.
- Check Ink Cartridges: Ensure that all ink cartridges are properly installed and are not empty. If any ink cartridges are low or empty, replace them with genuine HP cartridges.
- Clean Printheads: If the printheads are clogged, you can try cleaning them. Most HP printers have a built-in printhead cleaning utility accessible through the printer's control panel or printer software on your computer. Follow the instructions provided to run the printhead cleaning process.
- Update Firmware: Make sure that your printer's firmware is up to date. Sometimes, firmware updates contain fixes for common issues like printhead errors. You can check for firmware updates through the printer's control panel or the HP website.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
