I have an OfficeJet Pro 8035. About a week ago, I was prompted to replace the yellow ink cartridge. After replacing the cartridge, the following error message appeared "One or more cartridges are missing or damaged". I again replaced the yellow cartridge with a new one but got the same error message again. Please help!

Hi @Bkouv,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
The error message "One or more cartridges are missing or damaged" on your HP OfficeJet Pro 8035 can be caused by several factors. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve this issue.
Check the Cartridge Compatibility: Ensure that you are using genuine HP ink cartridges compatible with the OfficeJet Pro 8035. Sometimes, non-genuine or incompatible cartridges can cause this error.
Inspect the Cartridges:
- Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
- Open the ink cartridge access door and remove the yellow ink cartridge.
- Inspect the cartridge for any visible damage, such as cracks or leaks.
- Check the copper-colored contacts and the nozzles for any ink buildup or debris. Clean them gently with a lint-free cloth if needed.
Clean the Contacts Inside the Printer:
- Use a lint-free cloth or a cotton swab lightly moistened with distilled water to clean the contacts inside the printer where the yellow cartridge is inserted.
- Allow the contacts to dry completely before reinserting the cartridge.
Reinsert the Cartridge:
- Carefully reinsert the yellow cartridge into its slot, ensuring it clicks into place.
- Close the ink cartridge access door and plug the printer back into the power source.
- Turn on the printer and check if the error message persists.
Reset the Printer:
- Sometimes, resetting the printer can clear error messages.
- Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
- Wait for about 60 seconds, then plug the printer back in and turn it on.
Update Printer Firmware:
- Ensure your printer's firmware is up to date. Outdated firmware can sometimes cause issues with cartridge recognition.
- Visit the HP support website and download the latest firmware for your printer model.
Check for Blockages:
- Make sure there is no packaging material or any obstructions inside the printer where the cartridges are installed.
Try Another New Cartridge:
- If possible, try a different new yellow cartridge. It's possible that the cartridge you replaced was also defective.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
