My printer keeps asking me to use "SETUP" cartridges to enable a re-start after an unplanned power outage. I don't have these cartridges. I am using HP supplied ink cartridges. What do I need to do to overcome this issue please?

@Oldflyer58, Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
Your HP OfficeJet Pro 8132e is stuck in setup mode because it requires SETUP cartridges to complete the initialization process. Since you no longer have these cartridges, here are a few potential solutions:
Restart and Hard Reset the Printer
- Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
- Wait 2–3 minutes.
- Plug it back in and turn it on.
- Check if it bypasses the setup cartridge requirement.
Check Ink Cartridge Compatibility
- Ensure that you're using genuine HP ink cartridges for your printer model.
- If you've replaced the original setup cartridges with regular cartridges before completing the setup process, the printer may not proceed.
- Try removing and reinserting the cartridges.
Bypass Setup Mode (If Possible)
- Try pressing and holding the Cancel (X) button and Back (↩️) button together for 10 seconds.
- If a menu appears, look for a Factory Reset option.
Reset the Printer to Factory Defaults
If the above steps don’t work, try a factory reset:
1. On the printer’s touchscreen menu, navigate to:
- Setup > Printer Maintenance > Restore Factory Defaults
2. Restart the printer and check if it still requires setup cartridges.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
