Hi,
I purchased the OfficeJet Pro 8135e in August 2025. It has an issue every time I try to print something. Printing is faded and has blank streaks throughout. If I clean and realign the print heads it is better but not great. I changed cartridges early on and continue to receive the same results. I am really disappointed as I have been a HP customer for over 30 years. I have owned a few HP desk jet type printers and never had any issues.
On top of this I signed up for the Instant Ink plan and just received a statement saying I printed 70 pages last month. I guarantee half of those were reprints trying to get a good one and I never did get a really good clean copy. I signed up for the lowest plan 10 pages a month, I know I have months where I don't print anything. This plan is charging me almost $30 dollars for the month. These cartridges are way too expensive, I was hoping the Instant Ink plan would be a good deal, but it doesn't look promising.
Is there any hope for this or should I get my old (at least 10 years) Envy 5530 back out?
Tim

Hi @micophone_issue,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.
I’m sorry to hear about the issues you're experiencing with your HP OfficeJet Pro 8135e printer. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the problem of faded prints and blank streaks:
Check Ink Levels:
- Ensure that your ink cartridges have sufficient ink and that they are genuine HP cartridges. Using non-HP or refilled cartridges can sometimes lead to print quality issues.
Clean Printheads:
- Since cleaning has helped improve the situation somewhat, it may be beneficial to perform a "second-level" cleaning if your printer model supports it. Check the printer’s settings menu for an option to run a deep or advanced cleaning.
Align Printheads:
- Make sure the printhead alignment is correctly completed. This can be done through the printer's control panel or the HP Smart app.
Firmware Update:
- Check if there are any firmware updates available for your printer that may address print quality issues. The updates can often solve problems related to print performance.
Instant Ink Program:
- If you are using the HP Instant Ink service, verify that you have received the correct and compatible ink cartridges for your HP OfficeJet Pro 8135e.
Vent Area:
- For some cartridge models, ensure that the cartridge vents are not clogged. This can prevent proper air flow and affect the ink distribution.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have an amazing day!
