Hi @Lucinasc1,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your OfficeJet Pro 8610 cartridge tray is stuck and displaying “use setup cartridges,” here are some steps you can try:
1. Power Cycle the Printer
- Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
- Wait for about 60 seconds.
- Plug it back in and turn it on.
2. Check for Obstructions
- Open the printer and check for any paper jams or obstructions in the cartridge area that might be blocking the movement.
3. Manually Move the Carriage
- Gently try to move the cartridge carriage to the left or right. If it’s stuck, avoid using too much force to prevent damage.
4. Check the Cartridges
- Make sure the cartridges are installed correctly. Sometimes, improperly installed cartridges can cause the tray to get stuck.
5. Inspect the Ink Tray
- Look for any damage or misalignment in the ink tray that could be causing it to stick.
6. Perform a Reset
- With the printer powered on, unplug the power cord from the back of the printer and wait for about 60 seconds. Plug it back in and turn it on again.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

Hi 🙂
thank you for answering.
I’ve tried all these steps and nothing works.
The printer don’t let me go to the menu to do anything else , there is no obstruction and I can’t move the carriage .
Is there any way to do a hard reset? I saw in another comment a person with the same problem who used "Print and Doctor Scan". The program tracked the printer for any software problems and fixed them. But I'm not able to do it myself.
