HP OfficeJet Pro 7720 Wide Format All-in-One Printer

I have been using my HP OfficeJet Pro 7720 without any problems for several years, (in the USA), and I have been very satisfied with its performance. This is why I always buy HP for me and for my family members.  The HP printer indicated that all of my cartridges were out of ink, so I was required to replace the ink cartridges, and it accepted the color cartridges, but gave a generation error on the black HP 952, stating that my 3-year-old printer was a newer generation and the black ink cartridge was too old. I verified that this is the correct cartridge number (i.e. original HP 952, there are no version numbers), and examined it for damage, there was none.  I compared it to the previous black 952 and the outside appeared identical.  I have a legal case that I am working on, and I need immediate help with this issue, so that I can continue making copies.  If I buy another 952 from BestBuy or Amazon, will it give me the same error msg?  Should I buy my HP 952 direct from HP to ensure it is a current generation cartridge? Please help.

Hi @glozano,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd like to help!

To be able to answer you effectively, we need some information.

Could you please share the expiry date on that old-generation cartridge?
