Microsoft Windows 11

Hello,

I have replace a new ink cartridge and get an error on the printer display => Cyan Cartridge: Ink Cartridge Failure

I have tried all the troubleshooting tips from the HP Web side but nothing work.

The ink cartridge is exactly the same numbers, can not print anything and always shows Cyan Cartridge: Ink Cartridge Failure.

What should i do next, should i bring it in to a local HP service center to repair.

Note. the ink cartridge  i I replace is brand new.

Thanks,

pkulapatna

@pkulapatna, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding HP OfficeJet Pro 8620 ink cartridge failure!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

It sounds like your HP OfficeJet Pro 8620 is having trouble recognizing the new cyan ink cartridge. Since you've already tried the troubleshooting steps from HP's website, here are a few additional things you can try before considering service:

Check for Protective Tape:

  • Ensure the protective tape or seal on the new cartridge has been completely removed.

Clean the Cartridge Contacts:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it.
  • Remove the cyan ink cartridge.
  • Use a lint-free cloth slightly dampened with distilled water to gently clean the gold-colored metal contacts on the cartridge and inside the printer.
  • Let it dry completely before reinserting.

Restart the Printer:

  • Remove all ink cartridges.
  • Unplug the printer for at least 5 minutes.
  • Plug it back in, reinstall the cartridges, and check if the error persists.

Try a Different Cartridge:

  • If possible, try a different cyan cartridge (even an old one) to see if the error changes.
  • If the new cartridge is faulty, consider replacing it under warranty from the store where you purchased it.

Check for Firmware Updates:

  • Go to HP’s support website and ensure your printer has the latest firmware installed.
  • Sometimes, firmware updates resolve cartridge recognition issues.

Let me know if you need further assistance!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
