While printing out a black and white picture, the black ink stopped working. Since then, every black and white document has come out completely blank, and color documents come out without any black. I've tried cleaning the printhead 4 times now, I've tried alligning the printhead, I've tried turning it off and on again, I've tried clearing the vent on the black cartridge. Nothing seems to work.

I am having very similar issues with my HP Officejet Pro 8025.  Twice now the black output has gone streaky and then stops altogether.  The ink cartridge shows  as being nearly full and no amount of head cleaning makes any difference.  I'm on an instant ink contract so when I raise a support ticket they send me a new cartridge but it's very annoying because it takes up to ten days for those to arrive and I can't print anything in the meantime.  It seems that the black cartridges die after a couple of months despite the fact that I've probably only printed a few dozen pages.  The colour cartridges are fine.

By the way HP, I think it's very mean that you count the test prints created as part of head cleaning towards my ink subscription!

Could be dirty rollers inside the machine.

I don't know how, but it's suddenly working again. So that's nice, I hope the problem doesn't come back
