Hello,
I am suddenly getting the following message when inserting a genuine HP 952xl black ink cartridge:
"The indicated cartridge is an older generation cartridge that does not work in your printer.
It can still be used with some older printer models." The cartridge number is F6U19A.
The printer is HP Office Jet 8700 All-in-One Printer. This has never happened before. Is
there a solution to this? I have done all the unplugging and resetting to no avail.
Thanks for any help on this.

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, I understand you are not able to use the new replacement ink cartridges due to this error. Apologies for the inconvenience caused. To assist you better,
- What is the exact error message and where do you see this error?
- Are you sure this is an HP genuine ink cartridge?
- Validate this by clicking here - HP Anti-Counterfeit and Fraud (ACF) Program
If this is a genuine HP ink cartridge, I would need some information related to the ink cartridges and the printer which cannot be shared on a public post for security reasons. I have sent you a private message, reply to the message with the required details.

The error was in the monitor window of the printer. The exact message was:
"The indicated cartridge is an older generation cartridge that does not work in your printer.
It can still be used with some older printer models."
Below is a pic of the cartridge:

The empty one I took out was part of the same HP package (That cartridge operated fine).. Once again, they were genuine. The expiration date should have nothing to do with the cartridge being used if it is (new). If HP updated the printer not to use outdated genuine cartridges, they should refund and/or replace the cartridge, being it was genuine. The cartridge was a one of two in the package:
