HP OfficeJet Pro 8715 All-in-One Printer
Bought 2 cartridges from Costco: 952XL
used up the first one, when I put the second one in the printer it gives me the above error message
have already tried the power down, reboot, etc "solution" and nothing
what next? I could return the entire printer and unused cartridge to Costco
or can HP send me a replacement cartridge?

Welcome to the HP Support Community! I’m here to help.
I understand you are not able to use the new replacement ink cartridges due to this error. Apologies for the inconvenience caused. To assist you better,
- What is the exact error message and where do you see this error?
- Are you sure this is an HP genuine ink cartridge?
- Validate this by clicking here - HP Anti-Counterfeit and Fraud (ACF) Program
If this is a genuine HP ink cartridge, I would need some information related to the ink cartridges and the printer which cannot be shared on a public post for security reasons.
I have sent you a private message, reply to the message with the required details.
