@Betty. Please share with everyone on this thread what the root cause of the issue is. I spoke with several individuals in tech support and tried to explain the issue. As predicted, a call-center in India where no one could assist. I finally called "1 Eight Hundred, Four Seven Four, Six Eight Three Six" and spoke to someone who asked for the expiration date for each of the four cartages I inserted into the printer. In my case, I inserted all four new cartridges in my HP OfficeJet Pro 8740. The representative said that they (HP) were going to send me newer cartridges ONLY FOR THE INK CARTRIDGES I inserted today. What about the other three unopened sets of four I purchased (12 ink cartridges in total)? Crickets. I explained that this only started to occur after the most recent firmware update to the printer (Firmware Version: WEBPDLPP1N001.2225B.00). My only guess is that HP made the firmware change to obsolete these cartridges because of counterfeits. The newer cartridges may have enhanced encoding? In any case, I have 12 Genuine HP Cartridges that are now paperweights. This is an absolute disgrace. This will be the last HP printer I will purchase for my business.
