@Dianekm, Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding How to Get Your Printer to Recognize an Empty Cartridge!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
If your printer does not acknowledge that the blue ink cartridge is empty and doesn't allow you to replace it, you can follow these steps to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:
Step 1: Restart the Printer
- Turn off the printer using the power button.
- Unplug the printer from the power source for about a minute.
- Plug it back in and turn it on.
Step 2: Perform a Hard Reset
- With the printer turned on, unplug the power cord from the back of the printer.
- Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
- Wait for at least 60 seconds.
- Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
- Reconnect the power cord to the printer and turn it back on.
Step 3: Check Printer Software and Firmware Updates
- Make sure your printer software and firmware are up to date. You can check for updates through the printer's control panel or via HP Support Assistant: HP Support Assistant.
Step 4: Use Printer's Control Panel to Replace Cartridge
- Try accessing the ink cartridge settings from your printer’s control panel.
- Look for settings or a menu option related to ink or cartridge replacement and follow the prompts to replace the blue cartridge.
Hope this helps!
Take care, and have an amazing day!
