Print jobs complete error-free as before, however printout has smear lines and horizontal bars, rendering printout unusable. See attached image.

Try to replace toner cartridge first even an old one will do to see if it has any difference between both of them.

If you got totally the same patterns of defeat lines then it is the fuser's problem or it's the toner cartridge.

Damaged fuser sleeve printer needs to get disassembled, fuser removed, inspected and teflon fuser film replaced.

Thank you to everyone who took the time to answer this, and to East2100 for advice in replacing the toner cartridge before other fixes.

Today the replacement toner cartridge arrived, and after installing the new one it is printing perfectly again.

I want to say this printer has been one of my best tech purchases I've made - it's simple, doesn't do a whole lot, but what it does it does well consistently. This is the first issue I've had with it in the 10+ years I've had it, and the first time I've had to replace the toner cartridge. I much prefer it to every inkjet I've owned.
