HP Officejet Pro 8625 e-All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi ALL! I have an HP OFFICEJET PRO 8625. In changing the yellow cartridge, I started to get an ERROR Message, "Printer or Ink System (Error) Failure. Turn printer off and on to correct problem.  Contact HP".  I tried to replace the Yellow cartridge, but the error continued. The printer will not work. My wireless connection is fine.

Hi @TonyCJr,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The "Printer or Ink System Failure" error on your HP OfficeJet Pro 8625 can be caused by a faulty ink cartridge, a clogged printhead, or a firmware issue. Here are some troubleshooting steps to resolve the issue.

Reset the Printer

  1. Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  2. Wait at least 60 seconds before plugging it back in.
  3. Turn on the printer and check if the error persists.

Check the Ink Cartridges

  1. Remove all ink cartridges from the printer.
  2. Inspect them for any damage, leaks, or clogged nozzles.
  3. Clean the contacts (gold/copper-colored parts) with a lint-free cloth and distilled water.
  4. Reinsert the yellow cartridge first, followed by the others.
  5. Close the printer and check for errors.

Check the Printhead

  1. If the issue persists, remove the ink cartridges again.
  2. Lift the printhead latch (if accessible) and remove the printhead carefully.
  3. Clean the electrical contacts with a lint-free cloth and distilled water.
  4. Allow the printhead to dry completely before reinserting it.
  5. Secure the printhead, reinstall the cartridges, and restart the printer.

Update Firmware

  1. If your printer can still access the menu, go to Setup > Printer Maintenance > Update the Printer.
  2. If you cannot access the menu, update the firmware via HP Smart or HP Support Assistant on your computer.

Perform a Hard Reset (If All Else Fails)

  1. Unplug the printer from power while it is turned on.
  2. Hold the Power button for 30 seconds.
  3. Reconnect the power and turn the printer back on.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
