Hi @ALAN891937,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

When an HP printer shows a "Cartridge problem, not communicating correctly" message even after installing new cartridges, it can be due to several reasons. Here are some troubleshooting steps to resolve the issue.

Check Cartridge Installation

  • Ensure that the cartridges are correctly installed. Remove and reinsert them to ensure proper seating.
  • Make sure that any protective tape or plastic covers on the cartridges have been removed.

Clean Cartridge Contacts

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it.
  • Remove the cartridges.
  • Use a lint-free cloth lightly moistened with distilled water to gently clean the electrical contacts on the cartridges and inside the printer where the cartridges are installed.
  • Allow the contacts to dry completely before reinserting the cartridges.

Reset the Printer

  • Turn off the printer and unplug the power cord from the back of the printer and the wall outlet.
  • Wait for at least 60 seconds.
  • Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet and the printer.
  • Turn on the printer and check if the issue is resolved.

Use Genuine HP Cartridges

  • Ensure that you are using genuine HP cartridges. Non-HP or refilled cartridges can sometimes cause communication errors.

Update Printer Firmware

  • Check if there is a firmware update available for your printer model. Firmware updates can fix bugs and improve cartridge communication.
  • Visit the HP Support website, find your printer model, and download and install any available firmware updates.

Perform a Hard Reset

  • With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the back of the printer.
  • Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
  • Wait for 60 seconds.
  • Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet and then reconnect it to the printer.
  • Turn on the printer.

Check for Obstructions

  • Inspect the cartridge area for any paper jams or obstructions that might prevent the cartridges from moving freely.

Try a Different Cartridge

  • If possible, try using another set of cartridges to determine if the issue is with the cartridges themselves.

Printer Alignment

  • Some HP printers require alignment after installing new cartridges. Check your printer’s manual for instructions on how to perform an alignment.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
