Anyone have this experience?   I do not and  have never subscribed for ink cartridges.  I buy thru big box store.  I have relatively new cartridges installed-my printer is giving me a low ink notice.  I printed a report and total pages printed is 52.  I should get at least 200-300 out of these cartridges.

Hi @IWish582010,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like your HP OfficeJet Pro 8025e is giving an early low ink warning, which can be frustrating, especially if you're using non-subscription cartridges. Here are a few things to check and try.

Cartridge Quality or Authenticity:

  • Ensure that the cartridges you purchased are genuine HP products. Third-party or refilled cartridges can sometimes cause early warnings or inconsistent ink levels. Non-genuine cartridges may not provide accurate ink level readings or last as long as expected.

Ink Level Reading:

  • Sometimes, ink level warnings can appear prematurely. You can check the ink levels in the printer's control panel or through the HP Smart app to see if they match your expectations. You could also try printing a page with all colors to see if the quality drops, indicating low ink.

Firmware Update:

  • Check if your printer's firmware is up-to-date. HP occasionally releases updates that improve ink level reporting and cartridge handling. You can update the firmware via the printer's settings menu or the HP Smart app.

Ink Cartridge Reset:

  • Try reseating the cartridges to ensure they are installed properly. You can also perform a reset by turning off the printer, unplugging it for about a minute, and then plugging it back in.

Use of Ink:

  • While 52 pages printed isn't a lot, keep in mind that high-coverage prints (e.g., color graphics or images) can deplete ink faster than simple text documents. Even with relatively few pages printed, your cartridges may be closer to empty if the content is ink-heavy.

Printer Settings:

  • Some HP printers allow you to adjust print settings for ink usage. If your print settings are set to high quality or if you're printing in color when you don't need to, this can use more ink than expected.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
