It appears that the HP App and Store want to sell toner cartridges long before the toner cartridge is even close to empty.

I started getting warnings each time I printed, multiple times per print job, over 3 weeks ago.  I do not print huge quantity of pages.  If HP can tell from their app when the toner is low, and already shipped a NEW toner cartridge, it would be nice to know.  Or better still, set the warning to approximate number of pages remaining in the toner.

Any information would be appreciated.

Edits - Address the "how many pages left?" part of the question

No idea how to determine this.

Well, there is certainly a way to calculate the answer but the math required is not embedded in the software.

The calculation has to be made against how much toner is in the cartridge, the actual content of the future pages, how much toner is required to print that amount of content.

It may not be that complicated - you can estimate based on your past printing habits and guess how much is "low" level.

Estimation is easier if the suggested EWS supply settings (original content below) are actually available.  You still need an idea of how much you get from a full cartridge and the type / amount of content on a given page.

Original Content

If your Embedded Web Server (EWS) / printer supports the option, you can set the point at which you are warned about cartridge / toner levels.

If your EWS supports the option, you can remove the "low toner" alert from the email alerts list.

NOTE:  It has been my unfortunate experience that no matter the subject, EWS for a Laser printer is usually radically different from the printers to which I have access.
