Hi @glann_chan,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP Color Laser MFP 179fnw is printing pages with dirty or stained copies, there could be a few reasons behind this issue. Here are some steps to troubleshoot and resolve the problem.
Check the Toner Cartridges:
- Ensure that the toner cartridges are properly seated in their respective slots.
- Check if any of the toner cartridges are low or empty. Replace any empty or low cartridges.
Clean the Printer:
- Sometimes, dust or toner residue can accumulate inside the printer, leading to print quality issues. Turn off the printer and carefully clean the inside of the printer using a lint-free cloth or compressed air.
Inspect the Imaging Drum:
- The imaging drum can sometimes cause print quality problems. Carefully remove the imaging drum and inspect it for any damage or toner buildup. If it's damaged or excessively dirty, it may need replacement.
Adjust Print Settings:
- Check the print settings on your computer or device. Ensure that you have selected the correct paper type and quality settings. Adjusting these settings can often improve print quality.
Clean the Transfer Roller:
- The transfer roller helps transfer the toner onto the paper. If it's dirty or damaged, it can cause print issues. Carefully remove the transfer roller and clean it using a lint-free cloth.
Use Quality Paper:
- Low-quality or damaged paper can also lead to print quality problems. Ensure that you are using good quality, clean, and dry paper.
Update Printer Drivers:
- Make sure that your printer drivers are up to date. Sometimes, updating drivers can resolve printing issues.
Perform a Test Print:
- Most printers have a built-in test print function. Refer to your printer's manual to perform a test print. This can help identify if the problem is with the printer itself or with your computer.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
