I am a teacher who likes to lesson plan at home. Thought purchasing an HP OfficeJet Pro 8610 Series would save me copies at school. But, after purchasing this printer I learned that I would be paying a monthly fee to print a limited amount of pages and an ADDITIONAL FEE for going over the stated number of pages. I thought purchasing this item would be an investment but it's becoming costly to manage, along with the instant ink program. WHAT EXACTLY AM I PAYING FOR???????? Had I known this prior to the purchase I would've went with a different (cheaper) brand and just replace those ink cartridges as needed. I love the specs of the printer but I am highly disappointed with the additional costs I'm acquiring for printing pages from a PRINTER in my home!!!!!

Welcome to the HP User Community.

The  HP Officejet Pro 8610 e-All-in-One Printer series  is an older model - "after purchasing" must have been several years back.

For those reading

Instant Ink is a Print-by-Page subscription model.  Ink is supplied when needed.  The subscription provides for a limited number of included pages per month.  The number of pages provided varies by plan - there are plans that include a few pages per month to hundred of pages.  The cost for each plan is also different.

Those who typically benefit from this type of subscription might include:  large families, small businesses, community or church groups, artists, teachers - those who print a larger number of papers each month and for whom purchasing ink would be inconvenient or might become a substantial investment.

Instant Ink subscription is optional.

Instant Ink is not required - and need not be "forever".

You can (and should) cancel the subscription if / when it does not suit your needs.
