HP OfficeJet Pro 8710 All-in-One Printer

I am trying to print photos on an 8.5x11 glossy photo paper and my printer is not doing it. What it does print is either cut randomly, skipping the top photos completely and printing the bottom photos on the top or only making these weird lines on the back of the photo paper. When it makes these lines (which it does the majority of the time) it says in the printer with the printer head going back and forth like it it printing correctly but the paper never comes out. The printer does NOT tell me that the paper is stuck, then it just stops spits out the paper with only these lines on the back. I tries shutting off the printer and restarting, also uninstalling the printer on the computer, completed the maintenance setting on the printer and checking for software updates. Nothing is helping. Can someone please tell me how to fix this?

Welcome to the HP English Community --

The word "computer" in your message hints at Windows, though of course we don't know which version.

Presumably you are running a supported version of Windows and have the full driver software installed.

Other things that might possibly have changed over the years include the condition of the printer, the type, condition, and weight of the paper, and the settings.

The condition of the printer matters -- the printer is older -- All other things equal, the printer might be worn after years of service.  Is that the case?  Possibly, though printers of this type might generally last six to eight years with normal use.

The condition of the printer -- Yes, printer must be clean, including the rollers if you can get to them.  References:  Wrong or mixed colors in prints with HP 932, 933, 950, 951-959, or 962-969 ink cartridges  and   HP Officejet Pro 8700 Printers - Extra Pages Feed Through the Printer

The paper -- Is the paper weight supported?  If not, then it is common for the printer to balk, stick, partially print, or refuse to cooperate in odd ways.

The paper -- Is the paper high-quality?  Lesser grade Economy paper past a certain degree might not print as expected.  The brand does not have to be HP (though the printer was built for it) -- the paper must be decent quality and it must be of a type the printer recognizes (Glossy).

The paper -- If the paper is too old, too dry (brittle), too damp (all real things), the printer might struggle to print on it.

The settings -- Presumably you know your printer and how to adjust and check the Settings.   If you need or want more information on Settings, tell us which application or software you are using - I can post an example (if I have one in my archives).

As you know, there are two places to check / modify the paper size and type recognized by the printer:

The printer control panel - right after the paper is changed or the drawer / tray is opened and then closed

OR

The Embedded Web Server (EWS) - Tray and Paper

(EWS example provided later in this message)
