HP Photosmart 335
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Photosmart 335 only printing in Blue after installing new 343 compatible cartridge.

Recently acquired this small photo printer and purchased a new tri-colour 343 cartridge and some quality gloss photo paper.

Everything seemed to be working after I installed drivers for Windows 10. The problem is that everything I print comes out in Blue (Cyan) only. Done all the obvious many times, such as Align Cartridge, Clean Cartridge, Print Test page. I even downloaded the HP Print and Scan Doctor for Windows 10 and all seemed ok.

Is the issue with the printer (is it knackered) or have I purchased a dodgy compatible ink cartridge. It was sealed in a box and came from Tesco. It does have a date of 2016 on the package.

Before I purchase another (expensive) cartridge, I would like to ensure it is not the printer, or something I need to change in the set-up before I do.  Any help most appreciated. Many thanks.

@bgffc, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

I understand the printer is printing only in Cyan. I appreciate your efforts in trying to resolve this issue by performing the necessary troubleshooting steps.

Due to the age of the printer, the support options are limited. Make sure you have tried the steps mentioned in this document - No black ink, wrong colors, other print quality issues

Check the ink levels and replace any low/empty ink cartridges.

If the issue persists, I'm afraid this is a hardware issue either with the ink cartridge or the printer. Please reach out to the HP Support in your region regarding the service options for your printer.

If the printer is out of warranty, I suggest you upgrade the printer. You may visit Hp Store to check the available printers.

Keep me posted for any other assistance.

I ordered another 343 printer ink cartridge and the problem was resolved.

It was a faulty ink cartridge.

Many thanks
