@Jim785, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Black Ink Issues on HP Photosmart 7520!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

If your HP Photosmart 7520 printer is not printing black ink after installing new ink cartridges, you can follow these steps to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:

Check the Cartridge Installation:

  • Ensure that the black ink cartridge is correctly installed in its slot. The cartridge should snap into place securely.

Run a Printhead Cleaning:

  • The printhead might be clogged. Use the printer's control panel or software to initiate a cleaning cycle for the printhead. This can be found in the printer settings under maintenance tasks.

Align the Printer:

  • After installing new cartridges, align the printhead to ensure proper ink flow. This option is typically available through the printer's control panel settings or the printer software on your computer.

Check for Tape on the Cartridge:

  • Double-check that all protective tapes on the ink cartridge have been removed. Sometimes, small tapes cover the ink nozzles or contacts.

Check Ink Levels:

  • Verify that the ink levels are sufficient and correctly detected by the printer. Low ink levels can sometimes cause printing issues.

Conduct a Printer Test Page:

  • Printing a test page can help you determine if the problem lies specifically with the black ink cartridge.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
