My Hp 6960 officejet pro printer was printing pink strips instead of blue . I ran clean printhead function from the display 4-5 times . It didn’t fix the problem. Next day I tried to clean the print head from the display again . Later on I saw pool of ink on the right side under where the cartridges stays . Is it the waste ink after cleaning the printer head? Is the normal? Does that need to be cleaned or soaked off with tissue? Will it cause problem in printing? BTW it’s still printing srips e

Hi @Vik47,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you are facing an issue with your HP OfficeJet Pro 6960 is experiencing some issues with the printhead and possibly ink overflow.
Here are some points to consider:
Pool of Ink: The ink pooling under the cartridge area could be waste ink, which is normal after cleaning cycles. However, excessive ink buildup can indicate a problem.
Cleaning the Area: It’s a good idea to gently clean up any pooled ink with a soft tissue or cloth to prevent any potential mess or damage. Make sure the printer is off and unplugged before doing this.
Continued Stripes: The pink stripes instead of blue suggest that the cyan cartridge might be clogged or not functioning properly. Since cleaning the printhead didn’t resolve the issue, you might consider:
- Manually Cleaning the Printhead: You can remove the printhead (if applicable) and clean it using distilled water or isopropyl alcohol on a lint-free cloth.
- Checking Ink Levels: Ensure that the cyan cartridge has sufficient ink and isn’t expired.
- Using a Different Cartridge: If you have a spare cartridge, you could try replacing the cyan cartridge to see if that resolves the issue.
Long-term Effects: If the pooling of ink continues and is not cleaned, it could potentially lead to leaks or other printing issues. Regular maintenance, like keeping the area clean and running printhead cleaning functions, can help prevent problems.
