@Fellman5, Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Poor Print Quality on HP DeskJet 2742e!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
If you notice poor print quality after your HP DeskJet 2742e All-in-One Printer has been idle for a few weeks, here are some steps you can follow to address the issue:
1. Perform a Printhead Cleaning:
- Access Printer Settings: On your computer, go to the HP printer software or the printer's control panel.
- Initiate Printhead Cleaning: Look for a "Maintenance" or "Tools" menu, then select the option for printhead cleaning. Follow any on-screen instructions.
2. Test Print Quality:
- Print a Test Page: After cleaning the printheads, print a test page to check improvement.
- Inspect the Print Quality: Look for issues such as streaks, lines, or faded prints. If necessary, repeat the cleaning process.
3. Check Cartridges and Alignment:
- Remove and Reinstall Cartridges: Sometimes removing and then reinstalling the cartridges can resolve ink flow issues.
- Align Printheads: Use the printer software to perform printhead alignment. This ensures better ink distribution and clearer prints.
4. Ensure Paper is Suitable:
- Check Paper Type: Make sure you are using the recommended type and size of paper for your prints. Inappropriate paper can affect print quality.
Hope this helps!
Take care, and have an amazing day!
