Why is the print spasmodic in what it prints in black with the remainder being a pale grey. Both inks are HP and new and the printer less than 6 months old.  What can be done to correct this.

It is a Desk Jet 2810E Product number 588Q0B. It is a stand alone and print is done by Wi-Fi. There are no error messages and no flashing lights. The ink cartridges are both HP and brand new as I recently changed them as a result of having the same problem last couple of weeks. I look forward to hearing from you.

Could you please print a print diagnostic page from the printer and check if the page is printing?

Print Diagnostic Image
 

  • When you encounter a printing problem you need to perform a Print diagnostic Image test.
  • Use the same paper type that you were using when you detected a problem. The test patterns are easiest to evaluate on plain white paper.
  • Check that the selected paper type is the same as the paper type loaded into the printer. 
  • At the printer's front panel, tap , then Image Quality Maintenance > Print diagnostic image.

I have done that and ir came out ok. I have managed to print another document and that has also come out ok on this occasion. Thank you for your help and I hope the print continues to be ok.
