Microsoft Windows 11

I have just purchased a brand new HP7005 Smart Tank printer. I am trying to install the print cartridges, but the instructions say to get the carriage to the centre. Nothing I do will achieve that, therefore I cannot get the cartridges installed. The instructions say to press the BLUE BUTTON.. My printer does NOT have a blue button that I can see. Perhaps it is hidden until the carriage moves to the centre. I cannot achieve that at all.

Any suggestions would be gratefully received.

This is typed on the fly - I just saw quick demonstration - not sure if I have it straight...

Use the guide for the order of steps --

If what I have typed below and what the instructions say are not a match, refer to your Setup instructions.

Notes

  • You must install the ink bottles first.
  • Note that if the bottles are 70ml size, not all the ink will be dispensed - Cap and save for later.
  • When each tank is full, remove bottle, recap each bottle, and close each cap on the tank.
  • Close the the door - Wait 15 seconds (or a bit longer)

  • If there is a blue button... Blue button is on the right side front when the top is opened.

What if?

Your printer might open from the front.

If that is the case, then, yes - things will look different from the setup guide illustration.

?

  • Next, open the door - the print head / carriage should come to the center.
  • Remove orange plastic bits so the print heads can be installed.
  • If carriage is not lined up, move it gently to center so print head holder and any reference guidelines are lined up with each other.
  • Remove all the tape from the print heads and Install both print heads.
  • Once the print heads are installed,
  • IF the interior of your printer includes it, an inside blue bar / lever should be ready to be pressed downward.

Sample - Front opening Tank Printer -

Print heads have been installed - last step is to lower the blue bar / lever.

Next, close up the printer and continue with the instructions in the Setup Guide !

Hi Dragon-Fur, Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately, the carriage will not move to the centre position, no matter what I do. I spoke to HP in the Philippines for ages yesterday, and have been advised to take it back for an exchange.

Thank you,

Barry
