I have a HP DeskJet 2722e printer that I haven't used for a while due to troubles with it's print quality and it frustrated me. I have gone to use it today and give it another go and the issues are still there and it's really getting on my nerves. The print quality is awful, it's not printing black (it's a very pale colour) the print isn't sharp and it just doesn't seem right. I just cannot understand why it won't just print normally. It says theres no issues with ink so why is it not printing properly? I will attach photos. All I want is to print a document in black and white. Not this poor quality rubbish. Whilst I'm at it the quality of the colour and print image is atrocious. Any help would be appreciated.  I can't get anywhere with the online virtual assistant and trying to find someone to talk to and help me seems so difficult.

@GiorgiaG, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

It sounds frustrating that your HP DeskJet 2722e printer is having issues with print quality. Here are some troubleshooting steps to help resolve the problem:

Check Ink Levels

Even if the printer says there's no issue with the ink, it's a good idea to double-check the ink levels manually. Sometimes, the printer can incorrectly report ink levels.

Open the HP Smart app or the printer's control panel.

Check the ink levels and replace the cartridges if needed.

Perform a Printer Head Cleaning

Inkjet printers often experience clogging in the print head, especially if they haven't been used for a while.

Print a Test Page

A test page will help you identify if the problem is specific to the black ink or if there's a broader issue.

Check Paper Type & Quality Settings

Sometimes, the print quality is poor because the wrong paper type is selected in the print settings.

When printing, go into the Printer Preferences before printing.

Set the paper type and quality to Plain Paper (for black and white) or Best for color printing.

Update Printer Drivers

Outdated printer drivers can sometimes cause issues with print quality.

Visit the HP support website and look for the latest drivers for your HP DeskJet 2722e.

Download and install the latest drivers for your operating system.

Reset the Printer

Turn off the printer.

Unplug it from the power source for about 1 minute.

Plug it back in and turn the printer on again.

Try printing after the reset.

Check for Obstructions or Ink Residue

If your printer has not been used in a while, dust or ink residue might have built up. Check the paper feed and the interior of the printer for any blockages or ink spills.

Replace the Ink Cartridges

Even if the ink cartridges seem fine, they may be malfunctioning internally. It could be worth replacing them with new, genuine HP cartridges.

I hope this helps.
