I downloaded and printed a document with a color banner; however, the color banner prints as black and white. My roommate sends the same document, and it prints the color banner. I aligned the printer, cleaned the cartridges, and performed every patch or solution I could think of. Can someone out there help, please?

Hi @Thunder641,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your printer!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
Try these steps:
Verify Printer Settings:
- Check Color Printing Options: Ensure that the color option is enabled in the print settings before sending the document to print. Sometimes the setting may default to monochrome.
- Print Preferences: Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers, right-click on your printer, and select "Printing Preferences". Ensure that "Color" is selected under the color options.
Print a Diagnostic Page:
- Print a test page to check if the color cartridges are indeed printing correctly. Any issues here may indicate a cartridge problem.
Driver Check:
- Reinstall or Update Drivers: Visit the HP Support website to download the latest printer drivers and software to ensure compatibility and functionality.
- Default Printer Driver: Make sure you're not using a generic printer driver like "HP Class Driver" that might lack full functionality. Select the specific HP OfficeJet 4650 Driver in your printer settings.
Software Settings:
- Look at the application settings from which you are printing the document (e.g., Word, PDF Reader). Ensure there's no setting within the application defaulting the print job to grayscale.
Connection and Network Issues:
- If you're printing over a network, verify that your laptop is correctly communicating with the printer and that no miscommunication is formatting the document to grayscale.
Print from Different Applications:
- Try printing the same document from another application or computer to ensure the issue is not within the specific application or file format.
I hope this helps.
