HP OfficeJet Pro 8025 All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 11

I have done all three levels of print head cleaning and I still have a hazy striation on the purple and green bars on the bottom.  I use HP ink from Instant Ink.  Is this printhead wear or damage?  My printer is out of warranty at this time.

Hi @klzehnder,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

Print quality issues with an HP OfficeJet Pro 8025 All-In-One Printer can be frustrating, but they are often solvable. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the print quality issue.

  • Check Ink or Toner Levels: Ensure that you have sufficient ink or toner levels in your cartridges. Low ink levels can result in faded or streaky prints.
  • Clean Printheads: Printheads can become clogged over time, leading to poor print quality. Most printers, including the OfficeJet Pro 8025, have a printhead cleaning utility. You can usually find this in the printer settings or maintenance menu.
  • Alignment: Print head misalignment can cause blurry or distorted prints. Many printers offer an alignment tool that can be accessed through the settings menu.
  • Paper Quality: Make sure you're using the appropriate type and quality of paper for your printer. Using low-quality or incompatible paper can lead to issues.
  • Print Settings: Check your print settings in the software you're using to print. Ensure that you have selected the correct paper type and quality settings.
  • Update Drivers: Outdated or corrupted printer drivers can result in print quality problems. Visit the HP website to ensure you have the latest drivers for your printer model.
  • Check for Firmware Updates: Sometimes, firmware updates can address print quality issues. Visit the HP support website to see if there are any available updates for your printer's firmware.
  • Perform a Test Print: Most printers have a test print option that allows you to print a sample page directly from the printer's control panel. This can help you identify whether the issue is specific to your computer or software.
  • Clean Interior: Dust and debris inside the printer can affect print quality. Gently clean the interior of the printer, especially around the paper path and printhead area.
  • Inspect Cartridges: Sometimes, cartridges can be faulty or expired. Check for any visible defects or signs of leakage in the ink or toner cartridges.
  • Print Head Replacement: If cleaning doesn't improve print quality, you might need to consider replacing the printhead. Consult your printer's manual or contact HP support for guidance on this process.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
