Hi @RCh57,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP5520 printer is consistently claiming that the magenta cartridge is faulty or not properly installed, there are several troubleshooting steps you can take to resolve the issue. Here's a step-by-step guide.
Check the Cartridge Installation:
- Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
- Open the printer cover and carefully remove the magenta cartridge.
- Inspect the cartridge for any protective tapes or seals and remove them if present.
- Reinstall the magenta cartridge securely into its slot.
Clean the Cartridge Contacts:
- Turn off the printer and unplug it.
- Remove the magenta cartridge.
- Use a lint-free cloth to gently wipe the electrical contacts on the cartridge.
- Wipe the contacts inside the cartridge slot in the printer.
- Reinstall the magenta cartridge and turn on the printer.
Update Firmware/Driver:
- Ensure that your printer's firmware and drivers are up to date. Visit the official HP website, locate your printer model, and download the latest firmware and drivers.
Restart the Printer:
- Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, and wait for a few minutes.
- Plug the printer back in and turn it on.
Perform a Printer Reset:
- Check your printer's manual for instructions on performing a factory reset or a specific reset procedure.
Check for Updates:
- Make sure that your printer software is updated. Check for updates using the printer software on your computer or through the HP website.
Replace the Cartridge:
- If you've tried the above steps and the issue persists, consider replacing the magenta cartridge with a new one, preferably an official HP cartridge.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
