Hi @Shector8,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

It sounds like your printer is experiencing a "color dropout" where the Magenta ink is not reaching the paper, leaving only Yellow and Cyan (which mix to create green). Since this persists with new cartridges, the issue is likely a stubborn air lock or dried ink within the internal printhead assembly that a standard cleaning cycle cannot always dislodge.

  1. Inspect the new Magenta cartridges for forgotten packaging.
    • Open the cartridge access door and remove the Magenta and Light Magenta cartridges.
    • Look for a small orange plastic pull-tab or a clear protective film covering the ink port on the bottom of each cartridge.
    • Peel off any remaining tape or plastic that may be blocking the air vent or the ink exit hole, then firmly reinsert them until they click.
  2. Perform a "Power Reset" to recalibrate the ink delivery system.
    • With the printer turned on, pull the power cord directly from the back of the unit.
    • Unplug the other end of the power cord from the wall outlet and wait for 60 seconds.
    • Plug the cord back into the wall (avoiding power strips) and then into the printer to force the pump to re-prime the ink lines.
  3. Run the "Level 2" or "Second-level" Printhead Cleaning.
    • Go to the Setup or Maintenance menu on your printer’s touchscreen.
    • Select Print Quality Tools and then choose Clean Printhead.
    • If the test page still lacks Magenta, immediately select the Second-level Clean or Deep Clean option when prompted on the screen to use higher pressure to clear the nozzles.

For a visual guide on resolving missing colors, please refer to the official HP Color or Black Ink Not Printing support document.

What is the specific model of your HP printer?

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day ahead! 🚀
